Reason Why Mike and Maria Kanellis Were Moved to 205 Live

There are numerous reasons why Mike and Maria Kanellis’ push didn’t work out on the main roster. Most people believed the couple would have done great work in NXT, but it was decided to bring them to SmackDown Live. The WWE Universe just did not respond to the duo’s gimmick and WWE officials quickly moved on from Mike and Maria’s push.

Outside of WWE, the couple has been dealing with some personal issues and had a baby this year. They have been busy, but Mike Kanellis made his debut on 205 Live this week to surprise attack Lince Dorado with Maria alongside. The power couple has debuted on 205 Live and it seems that WWE officials have a big push planned for them on the show.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the move to 205 Live is a combination of WWE officials needing someone like Maria Kanellis on the show and Mike Kanellis needing a new platform to get over. The WWE Universe is familiar with Maria. She has a great on-screen presence. That can benefit her husband’s push and give the show a strong duo.

Some people may not look at 205 Live as a great opportunity for the power couple. The show is WWE’s fourth brand. However, it’s a perfect platform for Mike and Maira to get back onto WWE television and establish their roles more clearly for the audience. A lot of fans still see a ton of potential for them to be successful in the cruiserweight division.

If nothing else, their push on 205 Live proves WWE officials haven’t given up on Maria and Mike Kanellis. Over time, the couple could find themselves back on the main roster with some momentum. They will have a much better chance of success on SmackDown or Raw if the WWE Universe has more experience with them through 205 Live.
