Last night on SmackDown, Shane McMahon made the official announcement that SmackDown will be having their own exclusive PPVs on the WWE Network.

On September 11th, WWE “Backlash” will return for the SmackDown brand live from Richmond, Virginia. It’s going to be a fun night, but John Cena will have to miss the occasion.

It was recently reported that John Cena’s schedule was getting lighter. That’s not exactly true, he’s just taking a lot more time away from WWE related events and he’ll be missing some events from time to time.

According to CageSideSeats.com, John Cena will be missing “Backlash,” but the feud with AJ Styles is expected to be over after “Summerslam,” so it isn’t a bad time for Cena to miss an event on WWE programming.

However, the reason Cena is missing the event is because he’ll be taking part in a WWE live event in Shanghai, China, which will be a WWE Raw live event.

There have been rumors of John Cena’s role in WWE changing and the company isn’t relying on him as they once did, so it won’t be out of the question for Cena to miss a lot more time.

Do you think John Cena should retire now to save his body or continue to wrestle?
