John Cena and Bobby Lashley were victorious over Elias and Kevin Owens at WWE’s Super Show-Down in Australia. The finish of the match saw Cena receive the hot tag and hit a series of moves on Elias before getting the pinfall. Some of the WWE Universe was quick to point out that Cena did not take a single bump during the tag team match.
Because he’s John Cena, most fans aren’t making a big deal out of it. However, there are some fans who would appreciate an explanation for his booking in Australia. According to a report from Rajah, Cena was only given the okay to perform at WWE’s Super Show-Down in a very limited role. He was given clearance to hit a few moves and that’s all.
The sixteen-time WWE Champion is currently in the middle of filming “Project X” with Jackie Chan. The movie studio didn’t want him taking unnecessary bumps, but he was able to be a part of the show. The movie he’s filming is also the reason for Cena’s change of appearance. Some people have been commenting on him growing out his hair again.

After the match, Cena grabbed a microphone and cut a cryptic promo about his future with WWE. For the time being, it’s clear he’s still busy filming and his commitments to Hollywood will keep him out of the ring. However, it’s also been reported that Cena will have a longer run on WWE television for most of the fall heading into Survivor Series.
The WWE Universe has adjusted to John Cena’s limited role with WWE. It’s been almost three full years since the company was his first priority. At this point in his career, it has been easier for him to keep his appearances sporadic. His appearances mean a lot more and Cena is still helping the company when he can. It’s a good situation for all involved.
