Whenever WWE officials made the decision to choose Jason Jordan to play the role of Kurt Angle’s “illegitimate son,” it’s unlikely their plan would have led them here. The obvious plan was for a long-term feud to build between Angle and Jordan heading into Summerslam or WrestleMania. Unfortunately, the tentative plans have been derailed.
The WWE Universe was never fully into the angle because it came off so random, but the real reason for its failure is Jason Jordan’s neck injury. Before the injury, a report from RingSideNews claims the original plan was for Jordan to go over Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 34. That would have resulted in a major push for the rest of the year.

WWE officials have cleared changed their minds about Jordan’s push because he’s been medically cleared to compete for months now and hasn’t been on WWE television. The belief is the entire angle has been scrapped and WWE may not mention Kurt Angle and Jason Jordan together again unless WWE is booking a match for them WrestleMania 35.
It’s not the first time a controversial angle has been dropped without explanation. It’s a plot hole on WWE programming, but the WWE Universe wasn’t that investest in Jason Jordan’s character. That can change over time if he returns soon, but trying to force the storyline after months could hurt Jordan more and Kurt Angle has already moved on.
On paper, the best thing to do for Jason Jordan is to move him to SmackDown Live and give him a fresh start. Someone as talented as Jordan can recover from such a random storyline, but it’s going to take something great. That’s a problem considering WWE has not brought him back to WWE television because they have nothing for him creatively.
