Ivelisse Velez is a perfect example of a great talent falling through the cracks of WWE’s developmental system. She was a part of the 2011″ Tough Enough” class, which ended up giving her the base to build and become a star with Lucha Underground years later.
Dubbed “The Baddest Bitch in the Building,” Ivelisse is a fan favorite, who is one of the top faces of the promotion and has done a lot to cement the show’s identity. She may not be able to be “Ivelisse” in WWE, but WWE officials would probably want another shot.
Recently, Ivelisse appeared on the weekly edition of Ring Rust Radio’s podcast to discuss Lucha Underground, her wrestling career, and the intergender wrestling changing the industry. The latter is an especially hot topic because LU has proven it to be important.
You can listen to the full interview right here. Below is what she said about the latter:
“When you watch movies, you see women fighting men all the time. Whether it’s superheroes or really skilled female fighters, it’s completely acceptable and it’s something that has been going on for very long time.”
