Gunn was a pivotal trainer at the WWE Performance Center until then, but it is important to note that Gunn didn’t fail a WWE drug test, but a bodybuilding drug test from a competition he competed in back in July.
Despite failing the test and being fired by WWE, there are some rumors that Billy Gunn could be invited back in the future, after the smoke of the situation clears and Gunn passes a new drug test.
Since Gunn has been released by WWE, he’s been floating around the wrestling world and has even been able to wrestle for other promotions. For example, Gunn just won the MCW Rage TV Title over the weekend.
This was Gunn’s first championship since his release from WWE. He defeated Ken Dixon to become Maryland Championship Wrestling’s Television Champion in Joppa, Maryland. It’s unclear if he’ll continue to defend the title in MCW if WWE takes him back, but that could be worked into a new deal if WWE contacts him again.
