It’s a new day. Yes, it is. Just over a year ago, Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods were three guys lost in the WWE shuffle before they got together to form The New Day. I remember seeing it for the first time and not getting it at all. It wasn’t until a few months went by that I started to notice what they had.

I remember seeing it for the first time and not getting it at all. It wasn’t until a few months went by that I started to notice what they had, but the trio gained serious momentum as a group over the summer, and that has gotten us through 2015 with The New Day as the hottest current schtick in WWE.

However, it’s only a matter of time until the group ends its great run and all three guys move onto the next chapter of their careers. That just creates the question of who will emerge the breakout star of The New Day?

The-New-Day

All three of these guys have been great. Hopefully, this is a Shield situation where everyone benefited and was able to transition into singles competition. Unfortunately, that was a rare group, and most of them don’t end up so lucky. Typically, only one person ends up benefiting from all that work.

Kofi Kingston has been in WWE for quite some time. He’s a former United States and Intercontinental Champion. There isn’t anything left for him to do in the midcard. He’s played with the line of being a major event player and he’s been good enough to wrestle the big names but is he ready for the big match situations?

Big E is a former NXT and Intercontinental Championship. He’s a really solid wrestler and to be totally honest; his personality has finally shined through in the group. There is a lot for him to do in WWE, but he needs to be able to stand on his own. Ultimately, this comes down who turns against them first. There is big money in Big E.

Xavier Woods is going to be very interesting to watch as his career moves forward. He’s got the most natural charisma out of all three of them, and he has some good ability in the ring. John Cena’s US Open Challenge he accepted a few months ago was a really good match and the only time he’s been given real time in the ring by himself.

The point is all three are more than capable. The only question is what will the WWE audience look like after Wrestlemania next year? It’s highly unlikely that WWE would risk breaking up The New Day before then, but how much longer is the shelf life of group? How much time does the schtick have left before it gets stale?

Personally, I want this to be the final step to get Kofi Kingston. He deserves the spot after years of work. It would be a shame to watch him float back into the midcard somewhere. Big E had the build and Xavier has the charisma. The future is bright for all of them as long as there is a lot of opportunity for new talent next year.
