It was the NXT roster that got hit with a serious string of injuries in 2015 before the WWE roster. Alex Riley, Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami all went down over the summer despite being three top guys for the brand.

NXT also lost Kevin Owens, Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch to the main roster as well over the summer. It goes to show how deep the NXT roster is that it has been able to lose that much talent to the WWE main roster and injuries in 2015 without missing a beat.

However, Sami Zayn made his great return to NXT last week. Alex Riley is returning very soon, and news has broken on when we can expect Hideo Itami as well.

Itami posted the following statement on Twitter:

The last time Hideo was expected to wrestle in NXT was NXT Takeover: Unstoppable. The match on that card was a Triple Threat No. 1 Contenders match with Itami vs. Finn Balor vs. Tyler Breeze. The angle was run that Hideo was attacked in the parking lot before the event. Therefore, he had to pull out of the match due to injury.

It’s unclear whether NXT will run the storyline of who attacked Hideo Itami last June, but it’s likely the Japanese Sensation will get a similar return to Zayn’s last week.
