On Saturday, the war AJ Styles and Samoa Joe have been fighting heads into Australia in a No Countout, No DQ Match for the WWE Championship. It’s unclear if the rivalry will come to an end at WWE’s Super Show-Down, but the feud’s momentum could carry on into Survivor Series. If that’s the case, WWE officials could be planning something big.
According to a report from RingSideNews, it’s plausible that WWE officials are planning to bring back the “Buried Alive” gimmick match for Joe vs. Styles soon. On SmackDown Live, The Phenomenal One specifically used the term “buried alive” during his promo, which could mean absolutely nothing. However, it may also be a sign of things to come.

Historically, there have been five Buried Alive matches in WWE history. The Undertaker has been featured in all five. It would be interesting to see the match without him, but it would be more interesting to see how the gimmick would work for Joe and Styles. Their rivalry has become very personal, but there are just far too many questions to answer.
From a PG standpoint, isn’t a match where two rivals are literally trying to bury each other too much? Another important question is what happens to Joe or Styles after they lose? Do they just come back the next day as if they lost a normal match? For now, this is only a rumor, but WWE officials could be working on those very details as we speak.
The powers that be are also working hard to make Super Show-Down as big an event as possible. A WWE Title change on Saturday isn’t out of the question, but Styles’ retaining doesn’t do Samoa Joe any favors. Until the major event is over, anything could happen.
