From tonight’s NXT, Mickie James is back, and she’s focused on one thing: Becoming NXT Women’s Champion.

The story appears to be William Regal has been searching the globe to find new competition for Asuka. Who better than the former WWE Women’s Champion and former Knockout’s Champion?

We’ve known about James’ return for some time, but a few days ago some more details about the arrangement came to light.

Allegedly, the original plan was to have Trish Stratus make a surprise return to in-ring competition to help get Asuka over as a heel. After Stratus became pregnant, however, the storyline was ditched and James stepped in to replace Stratus.

Whether Asuka will remain a face during the James feud remains to be seen.

Their match is set to take place on November 18 at NXT Takeover: Toronto. Other matches announced for the show so far include Tye Dillinger vs. Bobby Roode, the final of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and Shinsuke Nakamura defending his NXT championship against Samoa Joe.
