Spreading the wealth. One of the more interesting things WWE has done in recent months is introduce the United Kingdom Championship, which has opened up several new doors overseas. These doors include paths towards relationships with British promotions, one of which will be hosting a WWE UK Title defense over “Wrestlemania XXXIII” weekend.
Today,
in a video on their Facebook page, Progress Wrestling announced that Mark Andrews will challenge Tyler Bate for the United Kingdom Championship at the “Progress: Orlando” event. The match is taking place due to Bate and Trent Seven costing Andrews a match for the Progress Championship against Pete Dunne. “Progress: Orlando” takes place Friday, March 31.
Opinion: There’s nothing wrong with expanding things a bit. No matter how strong an independent promotion may be, anything associated with WWE is going to be a step up. Having that title on the line means it could change things in WWE or give the wrestlers in-roads to the big time. That’s cool for everyone and if we get a great match as a result, so be it.
