It’s a first step into a much larger world. WWE is already a global company with its hands in all kinds of different places throughout the industry. It is rare to see them not having some kind of an influence somewhere and it has helped establish them as the biggest wrestling outfit on the planet. There are still places to go though and now WWE is trying to expand into a huge population base.
If there is one thing that WWE can always use, it is more viewers. The American television audiences for Monday Night Raw have taken one step down after another but there are a lot more people outside of the country than inside it. WWE would be wise to try and pursue some of those fans and that is exactly what they are going to do, even if it means starting in Florida.
Post Wrestling is reporting that WWE will be taping a special of some sort in Orlando, Florida to air on both Indian television as well as one the WWE Network, with a shooting date of January 22. There is no word on how the show will be formatted, though previous reports said that it will be an eight man tournament. There is also the chance that the event will be a two night event, similar to how NXT UK was launched in 2017.
Opinion: This makes all the sense in the world as the 1.3 billion people in India make would be rather excellent additions to the WWE fan base. There is nothing wrong with going after so many fans and if WWE can tap into that market, they are going to be doing a lot better in a hurry. Throw in some kind of a nice TV deal over there and the investment would be paid back in spades.
