Double up. Roman Reigns is the undisputed king of SmackDown and likely WWE as well. There is no one who has been able to give him a real run for his money for the title and that should likely be the case for a very long time to come. That can make booking title matches a little tricky, though thankfully the WWE calendar is going to give SmackDown a hand this time around.
We are less than two weeks away from WWE’s annual Elimination Chamber pay per view and that can be quite the exciting event. The show will of course be centered around the show’s namesake match, though as usual, WWE will be airing a pair of the matches with one from each brand. We already know the Monday Night Raw version and now we know what is going to join it.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns will be defending the Universal Title in the second Elimination Chamber match. There is currently no word on who his five challengers will be, though Kevin Owens is expected to be one of them after he attacked Reigns last week on SmackDown. WWE has yet to confirm the match with two episodes of SmackDown left before the pay per view.
Opinion: This is about the only thing that they could do and there is little reason not to. Reigns is in desperate need of some challengers at the moment so having him run through a few people inside the Chamber makes as much sense as anything else. Above all else though, it’s nice to have something other than Owens vs. Reigns. The idea has been covered already and we don’t really need to see it again.
