It’s a complicated situation. There are a lot of moving parts in WWE as the company appears on multiple platforms on multiple television partners. Throw in the digital world as well and it can be complicated to keep track of everything. Now one of those partners isn’t pleased with what another has been doing and things are getting a little complicated from multiple sides.
According to Fightful Select, Major League Wrestling was interested in airing its content on FOX’s Tubi streaming service and had a deal in place to do so. However, WWE objected to Tubi airing the content due to SmackDown airing on FOX, meaning the deal is in question. MLW and Tubi’s deal was supposed to be announced in August but nothing was ever officially announced.
This isn’t great for MLW. Check out what you could have seen on Tubi:
Opinion: I know this might not come off as the nicest thing in the world from WWE, but at the same time, they are putting in a lot of effort on FOX and MLW is just big enough that the extra exposure could be a bit of a problem. WWE also might not want fans to potentially pay for Tubi and other wrestling content when they could be paying for something similar from Peacock. It doesn’t so MLW much good, but it makes some sense from WWE’s side.
Did WWE go too far with this? What do you think of MLW? Let us know in the comments below.
