WWE Dropped Plans To Use Real Life Marriage In A Storyline

What could have been. Relationships are difficult to pull off in professional wrestling. There are only so many ways to make a relationship work when one person is on the road all the time and someone else is in one place like most people are. However, two wrestlers in a relationship together can make it a lot easier and if they happen to get to work together on screen, it can be even better. That was almost the case in WWE, but not quite.

There are several wrestling couples in WWE today and one of the more prominent is Aleister Black and Zelina Vega. The two of them have not been on the main roster for all that long and their marriage has yet to be prominently featured on television. They have appeared together in a few segments though, and it was almost something else taking place in a bigger way.

During a recent appearance on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast, Vega revealed that there had been plans for her and Black’s marriage to be part of a story. Vega’s client Andrade had been scheduled to drop the United States Title to Black at some point, which would have brought the marriage into the storyline. This did not wind up happening though and the marriage has yet to be mentioned. The two are both currently part of the SmackDown roster.

Opinion: I’m not sure how something like this would have gone but it could have been interesting one way or another. The two of them work well together on their YouTube shows and they are both talented performers who could do rather well on television together. Hopefully we get to see it one day because it could be rather interesting, as there is a natural chemistry which you cannot fake.
