Double it up. The Wednesday Night Wars have made things a lot more interesting for the middle of the week with both NXT and AEW Dynamite adding some extra energy to their content to try and beat the other. While Dynamite has beaten NXT more weeks than they haven’t, it hasn’t exactly been a string of blowouts. Next week is going to be a huge showdown, and it won’t be the last.
Starting next week, AEW will air the first night of a two week event called Fyter Fest. The shows are going to be stacked with all four of the company’s titles on the line, plus several other big matches included. NXT is not about to be outdone though as they have announced the return of the Great American Bash for the July 1 show. And now they are doing even more.
As announced on WWE.com, the Great American Bash will now take place over the next two weeks rather than just next week, matching it up against AEW Fyter Fest both weeks. This comes after NXT announced the July 1 event as the Great American Bash on its own during this week’s television show. The second week of the show will be headlined by North American Champion Keith Lee vs. NXT Champion Adam Cole in a winner take all match.
It’s going to be a big two weeks. Check out what is coming up:
Opinion: I’m surprised they waited this long to announce the second week as it would seem like a pretty simple concept. Why just fight back against half of Fyter Fest with your own big show? This makes perfect sense and hopefully we get four awesome shows out of the showdown instead of just three. I’m not sure if that is going to take place, but it is certainly a fun prospect.
