Been there, booked that. We are about to close out the year and that means that it is almost time to start up the Road To WrestleMania. That means WWE is going to be starting to set up their biggest feuds and stories of the year, which could culminate in some major events. WWE is already setting up one of its bigger matches going forward, albeit in a way we have seen before.
This week’s edition of SmackDown saw Adam Pearce leaving Drew McIntyre out of a #1 contenders battle royal. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this is part of a storyline of McIntyre being screwed over by WWE executives as Brock Lesnar is set to return next week. There is no word on how the two stories are set to tie together or where any future matches will be taking place.
The evil authority figure is a WWE trope. Check out how they have been done before:
Opinion: This is one of those stories that WWE loves to run and I’m not sure why they think this is their best way to go. I can go with the idea of getting to Lesnar vs. McIntyre II, but it would be nice to not feel like they are doing the same thing over again. It can work, but maybe they can figure out something to make this work. The talent is there, though it is going to be a bit of a trick to make it all come together.
What do you think of the idea? How would you put the story together? Let us know in the comments below.
