That wasn’t the plan. With so many matches and shows taking place at any given time, it is no surprise that there will be mistakes. Almost every show has a botch of some sort and some of them are a lot more notable than others. Sometimes there is no hiding what happens, but in this case a company is turning a mistake into a storyline for one of the wrestlers involved.

Riho was never officially eliminated from the Casino Battle Royal at All Out, as she was sent through the ropes rather than over the top. As a result, Riho received a match against AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker during this week’s edition of Rampage. Riho won the match, earning herself a future title shot. According to Fightful Select, Riho accidentally being eliminated was a mistake and Riho was disappointed and emotional as a result. There is no heat on Riho or anyone else for the mistake, which was turned into a storyline.

Riho has had some major success in AEW. Check out some of her time in the company:

Opinion: This is a logical enough way to go and it makes sense to put Riho in a spot like this one. She is one of the bigger stars in the history of the company’s women’s division and it is far from a stretch to have her back in the title picture. The botch was minor and I can’t imagine many people noticed in the first place. It wasn’t turned into a big deal either, but now we are getting a pair of matches as a result.

What did you think of the botch? How has AEW handled it? Let us know in the comments below.
