The new path. WWE is in the important stretch just after WrestleMania 37 and that means they have all kinds of momentum at their disposal. You can argue that they are not using it very well but they have at least started setting up some matches for their next pay per view. One of the show’s main events was already set, but now things have been shaken up a bit.
The previously announced WWE Title match for WrestleMania Backlash was changed from a singles match to a triple threat match during this week’s Monday Night Raw. Braun Strowman defeated #1 contender Drew McIntyre to be added to the title match. Strowman had been in the previous #1 contenders match but was not pinned, prompting him to ask that his match with McIntyre include a stipulation saying if Strowman won, he would be added to the title match.
Opinion: This is the kind of change that can help the match out a little bit. We have already seen McIntyre challenge Bobby Lashley for the title so going with something new is a good idea. The method to get there might not have been the most inspired but it gets WWE to the place it needs to be. That is what matters most and hopefully the title match can live up to its hype.
