Well, they are an international company. It’s no secret that WWE is the biggest wrestling company in the world, but there are a few contenders for second place. In America it would be Ring of Honor, but outside of America it’s New Japan. The company has been on fire in the last few years and has some of the biggest stars in the world. As it turns out, one of those stars wanted to do something with WWE.

If it doesn’t work, Jericho might have another place to go.

On a recent episode of his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho discussed an idea that he pitched to an unnamed person (clearly Vince McMahon) about a potential WWE vs. New Japan match. The idea would have been for IWGP Intercontinental Champion Jericho to face WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins. The match would have ended in a disqualification, but the idea was shot down anyway. There is no mention of when the match would have taken place, but since Jericho won the title on June 9, the June Money in the Bank pay per view seems like a strong possibility.

I mean, he has a reason to want to fight Rollins.

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised by the fact that WWE shot this down and I’m equally unsurprised that Jericho thought it up in the first place. If there’s one thing that Jericho is in wrestling, it’s able to think outside the box and that’s what he did here. Jericho vs. Rollins would have been huge and would have drawn in some New Japan fans, but I can understand why WWE wasn’t thrilled with the idea.
