Name and number please. Spots in NXT may seem like they’re handed out at the rate of free prizes in a cereal box but there are several names who are given chances but don’t manage to make it. NXT holds somewhat regular tryouts at the WWE Performance Center to see who might get a contract, which leads to the more interesting question of which names are appearing at the tryout. You’ve heard of a lot of them before, and you’ve probably heard of some of them at the most recent tryout.

Here’s what these people had to work with, which is downright impressive.

Inside the WWE Performance Center Combine

According to PWInsider.com, WWE held another tryout at the Performance Center this week with a variety of different styles of performers. Several of them are wrestlers with varying levels of success and notoriety while others are former amateur wrestlers or football players. There is no word on when any of these people would be offered contracts or be signed, assuming any of them are in the first place. Here are some of the names who participated:

*Former Impact Knockouts Champion Chelsea Green.

*Northeast independent wrestler Max Castor, trained by Curt Hawkins and Pat Buck.

*24-year old Duke University football player Shaquille Powell.

* Former Impact star Robbie E.

*28 year old former NFL player Terence “TJ” Barnes.

*La Rosa Negra from Puerto Rico.

*Northeast independent wrestler Rory Gulak (the younger brother of WWE star Drew Gulak)

*Canadian tag team 3.0, Scott Parker and Shane Matthews.

*CHIKARA’s Blaster McMassive.

*Mid-West independent talent Jake Omen.

*Duke University collegiate wrestler Jacob Kasper, 23 years old.

*New Jersey independent talent Adam Payne.

*Pennsylvania independent talent Wardlow, the current IWC Heavyweight Champion in Pittsburgh.

*Former NFL player Dorin R. Dickerson, 30 years old.

*Former football player turned Youtube personality Brendan Griffin.

*Texas independent wrestler Max Castellanos, originally trained by Rudy Boy Gonzales.

Opinion: As far as wrestlers go, the biggest names are Chelsea Green and Robbie E., both of whom are former champions in Impact Wrestling. Green also already has a connection to WWE as she is currently dating Zack Ryder. Other than that there are a few indy names that you may have heard of before, but you never know what WWE is going to be looking for in the tryouts. Sometimes they like going for the unknowns who are just starting out and those can turn into some very interesting prospects, but it’s quite a guessing game most of the time.
