WATCH: NXT Champion Appears On SmackDown, Costs Baron Corbin

They’re here too. The WWE roster is so stacked with talent that they company is able to split its roster into three separate groups. This includes the NXT developmental show, which will occasionally send wrestlers up to the main roster when they are promoted. Occasionally you will see them make a one off appearance though, and that was the case again this week.

Last month, Baron Corbin made a surprise return to NXT, attacking NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and his friend Trick Williams. This week on SmackDown, Williams and Hayes appeared in the crowd to distraction Corbin, costing him a Money In The Bank qualifying match against Butch. There is nothing to suggest that this was anything more than a way to advance the Hayes vs. Corbin feud.

Opinion: This seems like part of the push to make NXT feel more important and that isn’t a bad idea at all. Hayes and Williams are one of the better acts in NXT and having them pop up on SmackDown like this to mess with Corbin is a good way to go. It makes the feud feel that much more important and gives NXT some exposure, which it has been lacking in recent months.
