Hopefully that isn’t true. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and a lot of those can be absolutely devastating. Sometimes you see someone get hurt and aren’t sure how bad it is going to be. Other times, the injury is as obvious as you can imagine, which is hardly that much of a better situation. We might have seen the latter this week and it might be a bad thing.
The NXT women’s division has come a long way over the years, as it started off as some women’s matches on the show without making much of an impact. Since then, the division has become one of the most important parts of NXT and continues to be so to this day. There are all kinds of talented women on the roster, but one of them might be going away for the time being.
During this week’s NXT, Xia Li injured Kacy Catanzaro’s leg during a match by stomping it against the ring steps. The injury caused the referee to stop the match and award the win to Li. Later in the night, commentary announced that Catanzaro may have suffered a broken leg. It is not clear if this is a storyline or a real injury, or how long Catanzaro could be out of action.
This isn’t good. Check out the attack, plus more of the match:
Opinion: I’m not sure what this is going to mean for Catanzaro but hopefully she isn’t out of action for very long. Things have been starting to click for her in recent months and I would love to see that continuing. Li is turning into a monster in her own right and I’m curious to see where that goes. This feels like a storyline injury more than anything else and that isn’t the worst idea, depending on how NXT follows up with it.
