Earlier today, reports surfaced that CM Punk had suffered a “significant’ injury during the Royal Rumble. This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with an in-ring promo from Punk, who announced that he had suffered a torn tricep. As a result, Punk will be out of action for several months and will not wrestle at this year’s WrestleMania. Punk was then attacked by Drew McIntyre, who further damaged Punk’s arm.

Opinion: This wasn’t exactly a surprise but that doesn’t make it much better. At the end of the day, Punk getting hurt again is rather devastating, both for Punk himself and WWE as a whole. Punk was pretty clearly going to be set for one of the big matches at Wrestlemania but now all of the plans are going to have to change. Hopefully WWE has someone else in mind, but my goodness this was hard to see.
What did you think of Punk’s WWE return? Who do you want to see him face when he gets back? Let us know in the comments below.
