Who are you again? If you have watched WWE television for any extended period of time, you know that a lot of people come in and out of the door every single year. There are always going to be several wrestlers who pop into the company, don’t do much, and then leave. Sometimes these wrestlers will come back later, but you never can tell. One wrestler was there twice and it did not quite work out so well. It turns out that it was less impactful than you would think.
Last Saturday at Slammiversary 2020, EC3 appeared at the end of the show as a surprise. As a former Impact Wrestling World Champion, EC3 was quite the get for the company after he was released from WWE. This was the second time that EC3 had been released from WWE so it was clear that something wasn’t working there. He did make an impact in WWE, but it just wasn’t when he was working there.
In a new interview with the WrestleTalk Podcast, EC3 told a story about Vince McMahon seeing him during his time in Impact Wrestling. McMahon was impressed and thought that EC3 would be a good hire for the company. Someone told McMahon that EC3 had wrestled for the company before as Derrick Bateman, though McMahon did not seem to realize that EC3 had been with the company in the past. EC3 would return in 2018 before being released again in 2020.
It is quite the interview. Check out the full interview, plus some of EC3’s time in both companies:

Opinion: This is one of those examples where I just don’t get it. EC3 has a good look, is in excellent shape, can talk and can wrestle a solid match. That alone should give him a few shots and a lot of people have stayed around WWE on a lot less talent. WWE never gave him anything close to a serious chance and now he is off in Impact Wrestling again. It might be a downgrade in one way, but at least he is getting a chance to do something.
What do you think of EC3? How will he do in Impact Wrestling? Let us know in the comments below.
