He’s certainly earned the praise. It’s WrestleMania weekend and that means there’s a lot more going on with the show than just the WrestleMania event itself. We also have stuff like NXT, the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and of course Axxess. The annual fan festival is one of the coolest things that WWE does, just from the amount of things they have going on. One of those things is looking back at history, and WWE has a cool way to do it.
This is always cool. Check out WWE’s grand unveiling at Axxess:
Thursday night at Axxess, WWE unveiled a new statue of Roddy Piper in a special ceremony. This is the latest statue in a series that also includes Bruno Sammartino, Dusty Rhodes, Ultimate Warrior and Andre the Giant. The statue will be on display at Axxess over the weekend and will be brought out again next year. These statues are not an annual moment and there is no word on when the next one will be made.
Opinion: It’s not like Piper doesn’t deserve it. You really could argue that he was equally as important to the first WrestleMania’s success than Hulk Hogan if not even more. A hero is only as good as his villain and Piper was one of the greatest of all time. Fans wanted to see him get beaten up and were willing to watch WrestleMania to see Hogan get his hands on him. I’m glad to see this and it’s overdue.
Does the statue look good? Who else should get this treatment? Let us know in the comments below.
