Bret Hart would be proud of such hoaxes. The idea of wrestling is to make you believe that something you know is fake is real. That’s a hard thing to pull off, but the great ones know how to make it look so easy. They can also know how to make other wrestlers believe something is fake, which can be one of the most entertaining parts of a match. That’s what WWE is looking at today.
Is it real or fake?
WWE has posted a new Top Ten video looking at Infamous Injury Hoaxes. The list is a collection of instances when wrestlers pretended to be injured, often during matches, to gain an advantage. The majority of these were done by villains but there are instances where heroes goldbricked a little bit as well. The list also covers a long history with various decades and eras being represented.
Opinion: This is one of those things where the wrestling fans often know what’s going on but get to watch the wrestlers act clueless in a change of pace. It’s not so much a surprise but rather a way to see the wrestlers do something kind of stupid, giving you a look inside their minds. It works almost every time, even if you can see what they’re going for, but it doesn’t make it any less effective.
Which of these ten is your favorite? What did WWE leave off of the list? Let us know in the comments below.
