It’s a good way to go out. With so many wrestlers on any given television show, it can be difficult to do something that makes you stand out. Some wrestlers are going to get extra attention from the fans though and one of the most common ways is if they are the hometown star. That was the case this week, but as often happens, the show was not over when the cameras stopped rolling.
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite took place in Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s hometown of Long Island, New York. Following the show, AEW President Tony Khan brought Friedman back to the ring, with Friedman using My Life by Billy Joel as his special entrance music. Friedman thanks Khan and said it would cost a lot of money to keep him in AEW in 2024. He also took shots at CM Punk for Punk’s comments during Dynamite and said he had dreamed of wrestling here one day.
This was pretty awesome. Check out both parts of the promo, plus Friedman’s most famous talking to date:
Opinion: There are certain moments where you know what you are seeing is special and that was the case with Friedman. For someone who has a pretty average look, Friedman has used his amazing talking abilities to take him an incredibly long way. You don’t get to see something like that very often and it’s nice to see Friedman get this moment, even if he is someone you are supposed to dislike so much.
What did you think of Friedman’s speech? How will his match with Punk go? Let us know in the comments below.
