Who needs it? Wrestling is a strange industry as wrestlers are asked to be in character 24/7. This is quite a bit different from traditional actors, who are allowed to be themselves again as soon as their film wraps up. Wrestlers don’t have the same luxury, though things are a good bit more relaxed today. That was on display this week with a pretty big breach of kayfabe.
One of the biggest stories over the last year in WWE was the love triangle between Lana, Bobby Lashley and Rusev. The story went on for several months and was not the best received by a lot of fans. It did certainly have an audience when it came to YouTube views, though as the story focused on Lana leaving Rusev for Lashley. However, that wasn’t on display so much this week.
Dr. Beau Hightower, a chiropractor, has posted a video to his YouTube page, showing him giving Lana a deep chiropractic adjustment. As he is working, Rusev can be seen sitting in the background and speaks to both the doctor and Lana. This comes after Rusev was released from the company in April and after the two divorced on Monday Night Raw late last year.
It’s quite the difference. Check out the video, plus a look at the couple’s WWE split:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen and it is a bit ridiculous to get annoyed at it in today’s wrestling climate, but at the same time, would it have hurt to stay a bit more in character? Lana didn’t have to be bashing Rusev and praising Lashley every chance she had, but did Rusev have to be in the video at the same time? It doesn’t mean anything, but do they have to hammer it in like this?
