Welcome back. There are a lot of people under the WWE umbrella and some of them are more successful than the others. That has been the case since wrestling began and it always will be. You can gauge wrestlers’ success in a lot of ways and one of them is through titles. A lot of wrestlers have been champions before and two former champions made their return this week.
Back in February 2019, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles were introduced. This came as part of the Women’s Revolution, which saw women’s wrestling becoming so much bigger of a deal than it ever had before. The new titles came into existence inside the Elimination Chamber and then….kind of fell by the wayside. They are still around today, but it isn’t like they are the highest priority. Now though, some former champions might be able to help them.
The IIconics made their return to WWE on this week’s Monday Night Raw. The team came out to interrupt Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, who they challenged for a title match. That didn’t happen just yet, but the IIconics did defeat them in a non-title match. As a result, the IIconics have earned a title match on the May 18 Monday Night Raw. This was the IIconics’ first match since November 18, 2019.
Guess who’s back. Check out the big return:
Opinion: I’m really not sure how much good this is going to do for the division, but it’s not like there is anyone else available to challenge for the titles. The Women’s Revolution has brought women’s wrestling to never before seen heights, but when you need to bring in legends and NXT wrestlers to fill out the Royal Rumble, it might not be enough to have four champions at once, plus Charlotte with the NXT Title.
What did you think of the IIconics’ return? Will they win the titles? Let us know in the comments below.
