It’s a different way to go. AEW has been quite the hit on TNT, where the network has seemingly been pleased with how the weekly Dynamite series has done. The company is also scheduled to have another show debut on TNT later this year. The relationship seems to be strong, which is something that could lead to closer ties. That will be the case coming soon, though not in a wrestling capacity.

Last month, Brodie Lee defeated Cody in a short, dominant match to win the TNT Title. The match was completely one sided and Cody was taken out on a stretcher, where Lee and the Dark Order attacked him again. It seemed that Cody would be out of action for a long time and he has not appeared in the arena since. However, he made an appearance this week, but not for a wrestling related reason.

This is rather unique. Check out Cody’s announcement:

Following the main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite, Cody appeared in a Breaking News video to announce his involvement with a new project. The video was a trailer for the Go Big Show, a competition series coming to TBS, a sister network to TNT, in the near future. Cody will serve as a judge on the series, which seems to have already been filmed. Aside from Cody’s involvement, the show has no apparent connection to wrestling. There is no word on when Cody will return to AEW TV.

Opinion: This was kind of a weird reveal as it had nothing to do with AEW or wrestling in general. It’s impressive that Cody is getting this kind of an opportunity on a big network, but having it billed as breaking news felt a little off. There was no mention of anything that happened to Cody before he left or anything involving Lee. It’s fine to have it in there, but it was a bit of a weird presentation.

What do you think of the trailer? What should Cody do when he gets back to AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
