That’s a relief. Wrestling is like any sport in that an injury can shake things up in a hurry. Anyone can get hurt at any given time and it is horrible to see someone getting taken out because they are injured. It can also change the way a wrestling show works because something big planned can be moved off of the card if a wrestler isn’t healthy. That seemed to be the case this week but we have some good news.

This week’s edition of NXT was the New Year’s Evil special, which featured a huge card with several big matches. With so many things being added to the card, it was becoming a little unclear how the show could manage to fit everything in. That did not wind up becoming an issue as one of the bigger matches did not happen due to an injury. Now we know what happened.

The Fight Pit match scheduled for New Year’s Evil between Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher did not take place due to an injury to Thatcher. However, according to PWInsider.com, Thatcher’s injury is only a storyline and nothing is wrong with him. NXT needed to pull the match and move it to another date and the injury was the reason for the match not running. It is still planned to take place at a future date.

Opinion: That’s quite the relief as you never want to see someone get hurt. Thatcher has been on a roll as of late and it would have been bad to see him put on the sidelines for any length of time. The match still sounds good and I’m looking forward to seeing it whenever it finally happens. If nothing else, it sounds like something that would work well at the next Takeover.
