The more things change. The wrestling world has been shaken up by the Coronavirus pandemic and those changes are going to be felt for a very long time to come. With so many things being shaken up, it is hard to keep track of everything going on and now we might be seeing another change on an international scale, this time involving one of the bigger names in wrestling.

AEW has come a long way in its short life span and it owes all of its success, including its existence itself, to one match. Back at Wrestle Kingdom 12, Chris Jericho faced Kenny Omega in a dream match which went rather well, both from a reception and business standpoint. The match was Jericho’s return to New Japan Pro Wrestling for the first time in almost twenty years and it went rather well. However, that might not be the case again in the future.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Jericho’s contract with New Japan seems to have expired. Jericho had planned to be wrestling matches for the company in the future but the Coronavirus pandemic has changed the plans. Also, former New Japan President Harold Meij was not interested in bringing Jericho back due to the money Jericho would cost. Meij is no longer in power in the company though, meaning Jericho could return in the future.

Yeah this worked. Check out Jericho in New Japan:

Opinion: I’m not sure how much of a difference this is going to meet as Jericho isn’t going over to Japan at the moment anyway. Hopefully he comes back to the company in the future as he is the kind of star that you can’t manufacture with anyone else. Jericho brings an a-list level of star power to the company and it brings a lot more attention to New Japan and AEW. Getting him back is a good thing, but waiting until it is safe is more important.

Do you think Jericho will be back? Who should he face? Let us know in the comments below.
