That’s not a place you want to be. This past Sunday at Money In The Bank, Rey Mysterio won the United States Title for the first time in his career. The match was less than two minutes long but after it was over, former champion Samoa Joe attacked Mysterio and injured the new champ’s shoulder in the process. It isn’t clear how bad things are, but Mysterio has taken a step to find out.

According to, Mysterio was seen in Birmingham, Alabama on Monday, likely to get his shoulder checked out with Dr. James Andrews’ medical team. Andrews’ facility in Birmingham is known for its sports medicine and several wrestlers have been treated there. Mysterio’s current condition is unknown, though WWE announced that he had suffered a separated shoulder. There is no word on how much time he could miss or what will happen to the title.

It could be the last time you see him for awhile. Check out Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe from Money In The Bank:

Opinion: Birmingham, Alabama isn’t a good place for an injured wrestler to be as a lot of them have missed quite a bit of time due to treatment there. That would suggest that Mysterio’s injury is worse than it seems, though there is always the chance that things will be better than expected. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it wouldn’t shock me to see him have to drop the title as a result.

Will Mysterio drop the title? Who should take it next? Let us know in the comments below.
