Well he changed his mind. Vince McMahon is the ultimate decision maker in wrestling. If he likes you, you’re set for a very long time to come. If he doesn’t like you though, your career might be in serious trouble. That doesn’t mean his mind can’t be changed though and that means that a wrestler can get somewhere if they are willing to put in the extra effort.
In a new interview with Fightful.com, Samoa Joe talked about how McMahon was completely opposed to having him in WWE. This has since changed as McMahon became convinced to sign him and the two now have a great relationship. This has been a pattern, as he goes on to talk about being told he would not be around in either Ring of Honor or TNA and then being a mainstay in both promotions.
It can work if you put in the effort. Check out Samoa’s Joe’s interview:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is always cool to see. Samoa Joe is by no means your usual professional wrestler but he has been able to turn himself into one of the best performers in the business for several years now. With that kind of talent, it makes sense to see him be able to change some minds and now he is in the biggest promotion in the world. Now if only he could be World Champion.
