Title Match Set For Summerslam

The card is growing. We are less than a month away from Summerslam and the card has barely begun to form. You can tell some of the things that will be taking place at the show but WWE has yet to announce most of the card. That means some of the matches will be announced in a hurry, with one such title match being set up this week on Monday Night Raw.

The Raw Tag Team Titles have been in a weird place since New Day’s record reign ended. New Day lost the titles all the way back in December 2016 and the Street Profits’ current reign is the only one since then to reach 100 days. There have not been that many teams to become established and now the only one to get very far could be in trouble on the big stage.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Angel Garza and Andrade became the new #1 contenders to the Tag Team Titles. Andrade and Garza defeated the Viking Raiders and Ricochet/Cedric Alexander to earn the title shot. The win comes a week after the Profits defeated Andrade and Garza in a non-title match. The Profits have held the titles since March 2020 when they defeated Murphy and Seth Rollins.

Opinion: It’s not like they have many other options here. The Raw tag division is all of three teams, as Ricochet and Alexander do team together but it’s not like they have had any success so far. The Profits and Raiders feuded for a long time recently, leaving Garza and Andrade as the only options. The team needs to win something at some point though and this might be their last chance.
