History has been made! There are a lot of titles in WWE and that is the case for a reason. Having so many titles around allows for a lot of easy stories as anyone can get the idea of a title match. Someone has a big shiny belt and someone else wants to take it away from them. That is an idea as old as wrestling itself and it still works today, which includes during this week’s television.
After debuting on the main roster five years ago this month, Sasha Banks has become one of the biggest stars in the history of women’s wrestling. Now she and her fellow Four Horsewoman Bayley have become a rather dominant pairing and that makes for some interesting television, as the two of them are on both shows and doing quite well wherever they go. Now their dominance has expanded even more.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Banks defeated Asuka to win the Raw Women’s Title for the fifth time. Banks won the title via countout, which was a special rule set up the previous week by Stephanie McMahon. Late in the match, Asuka saw Bayley attacking Kairi Sane in the back, causing her to run off for the assist and costing herself the title. This makes both Banks and Bayley dual champions, as Bayley is the SmackDown Women’s Champion and the two of them are the Women’s Tag Team Champions.
It was a big title change. Check out how Banks got there:
Opinion: This is something that WWE almost had to do at some point, as Banks and Bayley have been getting closer and closer to this point for a long time now. I could go for seeing them hold the titles for a bit, though the question is who takes away which title first. That could go multiple ways and it makes for an interesting situation. The title change made sense, but it is quite the consolidation of the titles at the same time.
