Someone has to stop him. One of the biggest stories in 2019 has been the rise of the Fiend. Bray Wyatt’s new persona has run roughshod over WWE with no one seemingly able to stand in his way. This includes winning the Universal Title from Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel and blazing a path of destruction through SmackDown. Someone has to challenge him though and now we know who that will be.

One of the best candidates for the spot would be Daniel Bryan, who unsuccessfully challenged the Fiend for the title at Survivor Series. However, Bryan thought something was missing and brought back the YES Movement to help him fight another day. Since then Bryan has reverted to his American Dragon look to really up his game. Now, we know what he is doing next.

This week on SmackDown, Bryan defeated the Miz and King Corbin to once again become #1 contender to the Universal Title. The match turned into more of a singles match as Roman Reigns attacked Corbin and brawled with him to the back, leaving Bryan to defeat Miz on his own via the LeBell Lock. Bryan’s title match will come at the Royal Rumble next month.

It was a big match. Check out the triple threat:

Opinion: This wasn’t exactly a surprise as you had to know that Bryan was getting another title shot. It had been set up for weeks now and was the right call for what they were doing. The Fiend has already beaten Bryan but this is the souped up version, which could make for a more intriguing challenge. Either way, it’s the right move and keeps Corbin out of the main event so I’m certainly happy.
