Rollins! Rollins! Rollins! Earlier this month at “Wrestlemania XXXIII”, Seth Rollins scored one of the biggest wins of his career when he defeated Triple H in a grudge match six months in the making. The win made Rollins out to be a major deal, despite him already being a two time WWE World Champion. A certain legend has weighed in on Rollins’ status now that he’s won such a major match.
“Rollins is somewhat over, not all-the-way over, not by a long shot. Now, I don’t mean that in a bad way. That’s just being honest. “He relied on his sequences and his athleticism to carry him. To take him to the next level, he’ll have to get more character development.”
“When you say ‘Seth Rollins’ or if you want to say ‘Seth Freakin’ Rollins’, I still don’t have a sense of what or who this guy is. And so, that rests on Seth Rollins’ shoulders, as an individual, as a performer, to define or create that as well as the WWE because I still don’t get a sense of what kind of personality he is.”
You can listen to the whole show here, which includes a breakdown of most of the show.
Opinion: While Austin certainly isn’t wrong, I’m not sure how much Rollins himself can do to fix this problem. With the high level of scripting that the wrestlers have, there’s only so much that Rollins can really do. The win in Orlando certainly helped him but he does have a long way to go to become a fully rounded character.
