Welcome to the team? There are some very talented wrestlers who get in the ring almost every week these days, but there are also several wrestlers who have long since retired. Some of those wrestlers have reached legendary status and only make occasional appearances. It means something when they do though and that is going to happen again this week.
AEW President Tony Khan has announced that WWE Hall Of Famer Ricky The Dragon Steamboat will be serving as the guest timekeeper forthis week’s Dynamite. Steamboat’s appearance will be a tie in to the show, which is cross promoting with HBO’s House Of The Dragon series. This will be Steamboat’s first appearance with AEW and is being billed as his return to TBS.
For tomorrow’s
Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite presented by @HBO’s @HouseofDragon, we have the perfect special guest timekeeper for the event:
Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all-time, making his return to @TBSNetwork tomorrow night @ 8pm ET/7pm CT!— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) August 17, 2022
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that you do not get to see very often and it is cool when it happens. There are very few names who command as much respect in wrestling as Steamboat and getting him on your show, even for one night, is a great thing. I’m sure Steamboat will be well compensated for his appearance so everyone wins, including the fans who get to watch.
What do you think of the idea? How should Steamboat be used on the show? Let us know in the comments below.
