As the wrestler turns. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the AEW roster and that allows for a lot of different combinations. At the same time, it can lead to some issues as it can be difficult to find something for everyone to do. Sometimes a wrestler falls a bit by the wayside, but now one of them has gotten back on television after a lengthy absence. It just might not have been as you were expecting.
This week’s AEW Rampage featured Parker Boudreaux defeating Sonny Kiss in a match that lasted just over a minute. Then in the show’s main event, Orange Cassidy defeated Ari Daivari, Boudreaux’s Trustbusters teammate. Following the match, Boudreaux and Cassidy had a staredown, with Kiss coming in to turn on Cassidy and join the Trustbusters. This was Kiss’ first match on Dynamite or Rampage since September 2020.
Opinion: I do see the thinking here as Kiss is an excellent athlete and someone who could be interesting with some more TV time. That being said, the Trustbusters does not seem to be near the top level in AEW and I’m not sure how far they are going to go. At the same time, there are a lot of people sitting on the sidelines in AEW and the decision is made to push someone with no wins ever on Dynamite or Rampage? That’s certainly a way to go and Kiss is good, but it’s a bit of a strange choice.
