A whole new world. One of the most interesting arguments you can have with non-wrestling fans, or even wrestling fans, is whether or not professional wrestling is a sport. You could make a real claim on either side but you there are times when Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live are anything but sports. However, things might be about to change in a big way.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the FOX Network may want SmackDown Live to drop a lot of its comedy aspects and become more of a realistic sports show. Part of the idea is to have other sports personalities appear on the show and help promote the FOX Sports brand, which will be more difficult with so much comedy around. There is no word on how much of the content would be changed.

Some of these things would no longer apply..

Opinion: I could certainly go for something like this and I can imagine that a lot of other fans would appreciate it as well. Sometimes WWE’s comedy hits very well but there are other times when it’s nothing short of a disaster. At least in this case there might be a little of it left but that’s what Monday Night Raw is fore more often than not. Just let us have an option between the two shows and things will be a lot better.
