Put another new/old name on the list. It’s the time of year where a lot of names are brought onto the show and that means more names are being added to the roster. Some of them are a little bit better known than some others and some of them are names you might remember from a bygone era. One of the latter joined the “Smackdown Live” roster this week.

Shelton Benjamin made his return to WWE on this week’s “Smackdown Live”. Benjamin was announced as returning to the show last year after the Brand Split but had to put it on hold due to a bad shoulder injury. In his return tonight, General Manager Daniel Bryan put Benjamin into a tag team with Chad Gable and they will make their debut next week. Benjamin didn’t seem thrilled with the decision.

Here’s how it went down.

Shelton Benjamin returns to team up with Chad Gable: SmackDown LIVE, Aug. 22, 2017

Opinion: I’m cautiously optimistic on this one. Benjamin hasn’t been in WWE since 2010 and is 42 years old. I know he’s still in great shape and isn’t going to be around that long but this feels like it might be something that gets people’s hopes up. I’m sure he’s going to be impressive in the ring but there’s no way he’s at his old level, which might be what people are expecting.

Are you glad Benjamin is back? Do you like the idea of him teaming with Gable? Let us know in the comments below.
