They got in some good ones. This past weekend saw one of the saddest and most shocking stories of the year as Jon Huber, better known as both Brodie Lee and Luke Harper passed away unexpectedly. Since then, tributes to Huber have come pouring in with almost everyone praising him as a father and a man. Those tributes kept going this week on Monday Night Raw.
Huber wrestled in WWE from 2012-2019 with a fairly decent amount of success, both on the main roster and in NXT. He was around in various spots on the shows and worked with several people as a result. As you can see by the tributes that came pouring in, the wrestlers certainly thought something of him and they were able to show it during this week’s television show.
There were several tributes to Huber this week on Monday Night Raw. The show opened with an In Memory Of graphic for Huber, with both his real and WWE names listed. Tom Phillips used Huber’s catchphrase of “It’s Monday and you know what that means”, which Drew McIntyre used as well. Later in the show, McIntyre and Alexa Bliss both used Huber’s “yeah yeah yeah” catchphrase during their promos. Finally, during the final match of the show, Xavier Woods used Huber’s discus lariat, which Phillips called a Harper clothesline. Various other wrestlers had more subtle tributes to Huber throughout the night as well.
WWE has put up their own tribute. Check out their special look at Harper:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that brings a bit of a smile after what happened this weekend. There is no way to make what happened better, but the fact that so many people seem willing to pay tribute to Huber shows you how much they cared about him. You don’t see that very often but it’s great to see someone doing small things like this to show what he meant to them.
