Those are some big shoes to fill. The Coronavirus has changed the way WWE does just about everything over the last fifteen months, but things are starting to get back to normal. The shows are going back on the road in front of audiences and that could be a game changer for WWE. They already had fans back for WrestleMania, but there are going to be more for Summerslam. That has WWE thinking about something.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is hoping to make this year’s Summerslam into the WrestleMania level show of 2021. This would mean “all resources will be tapped into”, though it is not clear what that could entail. WrestleMania 37 did have fans in attendance on both nights, but the event was held at a reduced capacity. Summerslam will be held Saturday August 21 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. No matches or appearances have been announced so far.
After speaking to a few sources on the topic, I’ve learned that WWE is 100% attempting to make SummerSlam this year’s WrestleMania. “All resources will be tapped into” is how it was explained to me. I do believe they want Reigns v Cena to headline. Not sure if they’ve decided.

Summerslam has been a big show for a long time now. Check out what it can do:
Opinion: This would not be the first time that Summerslam was a bigger show than WrestleMania and in this situation, it would make sense to go in that direction. There were fans back for WrestleMania, but it did not feel like a full on WWE blowout event. Maybe that is the case with Summerslam though, as they already have the WrestleMania level venue. This has me optimistic, but I’ll be waiting to see what we get.
What do you expect from Summerslam? What should headline the show? Let us know in the comments below.
