I’d call that a good reason. There are a lot of second generation wrestlers in the world today but you never can tell what that is going to mean for their futures. Some of them are a lot more successful than others and it doesn’t often matter whose son or daughter they are. What matters is how good they are on their own and training can play a big role in that. In theory, that is what is going on at the moment.

One of the bigger stories on Monday Night Raw at the moment is the possible retirement of Rey Mysterio. Last month, Seth Rollins attacked Mysterio and sent him eye first into the steel steps, possibly ending his in-ring career. As a result, Mysterio and his son Dominick have sworn revenge and now we might be seeing a reason for Mysterio’s extended absence from the ring.

According to Tom Colohue on the Dropkick DiSKussion podcast, Mysterio has been missing from the ring lately in an effort to help finalize Dominick’s training. Mysterio is planning on retiring soon but wants to work with his son before he leaves the ring. Therefore, he has been trying to get Dominick ready for the ring as fast as possible, which includes additional training with Mysterio.

It was quite the interview. Check out the podcast plus Mysterio and his son:

Opinion: I’m not sure how good Dominick is going to be in the arena but it is nice to see a father and son getting together like this. Mysterio is one of the biggest stars of all time and it makes sense to have Mysterio wanting to work with his son before he retires. There is nothing wrong with any of this, though I’m not sure how much interest there is going to be in having Dominick in the ring.
