Just in case India hadn’t gotten enough wrestling attention yet. Earlier this month, Jinder Mahal won the Smackdown World Title, becoming one of the only wrestlers of Indian descent to be a World Champion. Later this week, “Impact Wrestling” is taping shows from India. Now it’s time for Ring of Honor to get in on the mix.
According to 411mania.com,
Ring of Honor has signed a deal to air their weekly TV show on Indian TV. The show will air on the newly formed DSPORT, which will be the program in 70 million homes across the country. This is comparable to the 75 million homes that “Impact Wrestling” reaches on PopTV in America.
Opinion: That’s quite the step for Ring of Honor, which certainly doesn’t act like most of the promotions here in America. Their TV schedule is already a bit odd but putting them in a new country with that kind of population is a huge boost. Hopefully this grows their brand and brings in some more money to the company, which is never a bad thing.
