It’s a direction. We are done with Hell In A Cell and that means there is not much left in the year for WWE. The company still has Survivor Series and Tables, Ladders And Chairs to get through, but that’s about it for the rest of the year. That means it is long past time to start getting ready for 2021 and it turns out that WWE has already been planting some seeds for a major WrestleMania 37 match.

The big story coming out of Hell In A Cell came in the main event when Randy Orton defeated Drew McIntyre to become the WWE Champion again. This is Orton’s fourteenth World Title in WWE and a number that few wrestlers can approach. There are a handful who can though and Orton may be defending against one of them on the most biggest night of the year.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan for WrestleMania 37 is still to have Orton defend the WWE Championship against Edge in an I Quit match. The match was originally planned for Summerslam but had to be postponed due to Edge tearing his tricep. There is no word on whether Orton will hold the title all the way until WrestleMania 37, which is scheduled to take place on March 28. Edge is scheduled to return to the ring in early 2021.

This could be big. Check out how we got here:

Opinion: This match has been rumored for a long time now and for the life of me I still don’t get why it needs to be for the title. It feels like a match that could take place under any circumstances but for some reason, WWE needs it to be a World Title match. That is something they have done before and I really don’t get why it needs to be the same thing here. It isn’t that big of a rivalry, but this seems to be what we are getting.
