That Could Be A Problem. Cain Velasquez Could Be Away From WWE For A Long Time Very Soon.

That could hold them back a little bit. Last week on the debut episode of SmackDown on FOX, Cain Velasquez debuted and took down former UFC rival, and new WWE Champion Brock Lesnar without much effort. Velasquez seems destined to face Lesnar in a major match at some point in the future, but there might be something that holds the idea back for some time.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Velasquez is in need of knee surgery and it is not clear how or when the match with Lesnar will go. Velasquez would need a full knee reconstruction and if he has the surgery in November after Crown Jewel on October 31, he would not be available for WrestleMania 36 in April. There is a chance that he could have a smaller surgery and possibly make it back in time for WrestleMania. It is not clear when the match with Lesnar is taking place.

Opinion: I’m not sure if this is actually going to be a problem as Velasquez could just be in WWE for a short deal with Lesnar. It’s possible that he is being brought in for one match and then gets written off for the knee surgery. If he is around for that long of a time though, it could be interesting to see where WWE goes with the idea. I can’t imagine Velasquez winning the title, but it would certainly be a surprising way to go.
