From the other huge money deal. Over the last few weeks, WWE has been trademarking a bunch of former WCW concepts for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. It might be to prevent others from using them or it may be due to some other reason. WWE hasn’t actually aired most of the shows, but that might be changing when everything else changes for them late next year.
According to Ringsidenews.com, WWE is trademarking a variety of WCW names such as Halloween Havoc in the hopes of using them as specials on the FOX Network. The new WWE deal starts next year and there has been talk of extra television shows and specials from WWE as a bonus. WWE has never run a special using the Halloween Havoc name, which was used by WCW from 1989-2000.
It’s certainly been on their minds before.
Opinion: I certainly hope we’re getting some more shows like this as we go forward. I miss the days of the more creative names and sets rather than generic names like Super Show-Down. That sounds like any independent wrestling show that didn’t bother to put in the effort to come up with a name worth mentioning. WWE can do better than that and there’s no reason for them not to.
